Bio
Joseph A. Grasso was born in Nassau County but grew up in Queens County. He attended NYC public schools until entering Holy Cross High School in Flushing, Queens. After Holy Cross, he enrolled at CUNY York College in Jamaica, Queens, where he studied pre-law and Theatre Arts. He then attended SUNY Buffalo Law School, where he concentrated in Criminal Law.
After graduating law school in 2014, he returned to Queens, where he began his 11-year career as an Assistant District Attorney working for the Queens District Attorney. Throughout his 8 years at the Queens District Attorney's Office, he worked under District Attorneys Richard Brown, Jack Ryan, and Melinda Katz. While at the Queens District Attorney's office, he worked in the Criminal Court Bureau, Special Proceedings Bureau, and the Homicide Bureau.
After 8 years at the Queens DA, he accepted a position at the Nassau County District Attorney's Office, where he worked from 2022 to 2025 for District Attorney Anne Donnelly. There, as Senior Litigation Counsel, he again prosecuted the most serious crimes, including gang shootings and homicides.
Throughout his career, he has investigated and taken to trial the most serious cases, ranging from rape to murder to drug dealing and gang-related offenses. Throughout his career, he has maintained great relationships with all of his courtroom colleagues and has the credibility in the criminal justice community to effectively advocate for his clients.
